Summary

Denji's companion asks about his virginity and offers to be his first if he completes one task: licking the dead devil for her. He pauses to weigh it, voicing suspicion that someone met only moments ago would push such an intimate request. He declares himself a grown man now, no longer a mindless follower of orders, and tells her to leave and find some dignity. That, at least, is what he would have said, except he had already lunged to lick the tendril, even sucking on it suggestively simply because she told him to.

Key Events

She then leads him into a private karaoke booth, hinting the owner will turn a blind eye to anything intimate. As Denji asks whether they should begin, she cuts in with an impromptu performance, belting out a Maximum the Hormone number that lampoons oversexualization and assault. Taking her singing as proof the date is no setup, Denji is jumped by a swarm of men wielding baseball bats who burst into the room. He snatches a bat off one of them, storms into the corridor, and lays out the rest while she keeps singing. The moment she stops, he asks if a second verse is coming; she answers that the brawl looked more fun and grabs a bat of her own.

Notes

The karaoke venue, 'Karaoke Fujimoto,' winks at series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto. The bat assaults evoke the real 'My Way killings' in the Philippines, outbursts tied to that song in karaoke bars. The featured Maximum the Hormone track actually debuted well after the late nineties, so this world apparently got it sooner, and the same band wrote the anime's third ending, Hawatari Nioku Centi.
