Summary

Aki presses ahead, turning aside most of the Ghost Devil's blows with the Future Devil's foresight, but its countless arms soon overwhelm him, and the creature begins to strangle him. A memory surfaces of an early meeting with Himeno, who once held out a cigarette before noticing he was underage and pulling it back, promising to return it when he truly needed something to lean on.

In the present, Aki suddenly finds himself freed from the monster's grip. Out of its mass, Himeno's right arm extends toward him, offering that cigarette, and as he takes it he reads the words easy revenge written along it. Drawing a slow breath, he recalls her counsel and reasons that the Ghost Devil is blind, sensing the world through fear. Keeping himself calm, he scales the creature, tells Himeno he will be joining her before long, and severs its head. A stunned Sawatari reaches for the Snake Devil, only for Kobeni to press a blade to her throat. Aki tells Kobeni not to kill her and asks why she never resigned from the bureau, and she sheepishly admits she was close to earning a bonus.
