Love, Flower, Chainsaw

Strolling along and replaying his date in his head, Denji is shadowed underground by a silent Beam. He tosses money into a charity stand to prove he now has a heart and receives a flower in thanks, which he munches as he walks off, baffling the volunteer. Thinking of how Makima soothed his worries, he resolves to spend her promised wish on asking her out, certain she is the only girl he could ever love. A sudden downpour sends him scrambling for shelter.

Crammed into a phone booth, Denji is joined by a young woman whose nervous laughter melts into tears as she says his face recalls her dead dog. Gagging, Denji coughs up the swallowed flower and presents it to her with a flourish, earning a stunned, grateful smile. When the rain lets up she invites him to her workplace, a cafe called Crossroads. There she serves him coffee that he downs with a grimace, then teases and touches his shoulder, leaving him flustered and wondering if she likes him. She gives her name as Reze, he returns his, and he uneasily realizes his attraction to her is growing even as Makima lingers in his mind.

The Japanese title is Koi, Hana, Chensō. Part of Volume 5 and the Bomb Girl arc, it appeared in 2019 Issue 44 on September 30, 2019, and was adapted in the Reze Arc film. Beam, Makima, and the Gun Devil are referenced alongside Reze's debut.
