Summary

Glued to the television, Denji weeps over the adoration pouring in, especially a fan begging Chainsaw Man for a date, and mashes his face against the screen as he sobs about his popularity. Kobeni watches his meltdown from the wall with a mix of pity and unease. Kishibe finally tells him to settle down. Denji pours out his cravings for steak instead of bread and jam, for many girlfriends, for endless sex, declaring these the reasons he wants to be Chainsaw Man. Kishibe warns that drawing attention guarantees Makima will hunt and kill him the next time he takes his hybrid form.

Key Events

Late that night, while the others sleep, Denji studies footage of himself slaying a devil and steels his resolve to become Chainsaw Man, turning over how to defeat Makima. Memories flood him: the Darkness Devil ordeal, first meeting Beam, the battle against Santa Claus. Then come tender images of Makima feeding him her blood, listening to his heart, and telling him she liked a boy named Denji, leaving him to admit, in self-loathing, that he still cannot help loving her despite everything.

Notes

The chapter closes by leaping ahead to a daytime graveyard, where Denji in hybrid form perches atop a cross as Makima approaches alongside Katana Man, Reze, Quanxi, the Whip and Spear Hybrids, Miri Sugo, Barem Bridge, and a synchronized mass of Public Safety. When he asks whether crappy movies will exist in her utopia, Makima realizes she is speaking to Denji rather than Chainsaw Man and finds him unfit for the role. Denji revs his chainsaws as the crows scatter. It ran in issue 2020-50 on November 16, 2020, across nineteen pages within the Control Devil arc.
