Futa Zuma

As a human, Futa was a small, shaven-headed boy in a plain long-sleeved top and shorts. The rain boots his mother gave him were the only shoes he wore, and an umbrella stayed near him at all times.

The Umbrella Boy form resembles a one-eyed cyclops, its dark head bearing a single swollen eye above a row of bared teeth. That shadowy head sits atop one strangely huge leg fitted with a geta sandal. As his name promises, a tattered umbrella hangs over the body, leaving only a front opening for the spirit to look through.

Genuinely cheerful, Futa adored the umbrella and rain boots that came from his mother. Turbo Granny calls the Umbrella Boy a sweet-natured spirit by default, one that turns unstoppable the moment combat is forced upon him.

Born into poverty, Futa held tight to his mother's gifts and promised to carry them wherever he went. When their father passed and their mother struggled to support them alone, his older brother Unji watched over him. Heading home one rainy day, Futa bolted after his umbrella when the wind tore it from his hands and was led to a river, where he drowned. Death turned his spirit into the Umbrella Boy. At the same riverbank where the accident had happened, much later, the yokai found Unji racing to pull Vega and a young boy out of the current and offered his power for the rescue.

In the Danmara Arc, after Okarun defeats Umbrella Boy Unji, Futa appears beside his badly hurt brother, pleading for Okarun to quit bullying him. Through the Typhoon Human Arc, as Unji flies to Shimane alongside Momo, Seiko, Jiji and others, Futa summons his umbrellas to guard Jiji from a striker, an act that warns the blind Unji that a foe is on board. When the Kito Family attacks, Futa lashes back using the umbrellas, and he goes on to steer Momo to safety atop the plane and to power up Jiji's Evil Gun against the UMA. Later, in the Shimane Arc, Shinobi steals Unji's ability and hands it to Vlad, causing Futa to disappear from his brother's side with his fate unclear.
