Summary

Slipping past the perimeter, Banga and Bamora come upon rows of captive Sumerian men queued to be offered up to Big Mama. Tome would rather leave them and run straight for the pyramid ship, but Banga reasons that releasing the prisoners is their only way to outnumber the enemy. Bamora creeps into the line and works loose one man's bindings, yet the freed captive bolts and gives away their position, forcing the four to fight their way forward as the attack begins.

When Bamora is singled out, Banga throws herself in the path of a rocket meant for the girl and crumples to the ground, gravely hurt. Bamora screams for her to rise, but Aja drags her on, insisting it is too late and that the last child of the Sumerians must be protected at any cost. Left behind, Banga stirs back to consciousness and lays eyes on the Sumerian god's battle suit assembled the day before. The others press ahead only to be encircled, and as Big Mama lunges to devour Bamora, the girl calls silently for her mother. The Sumerian suit strikes Big Mama down and spares her.

Key Events

The group resolves to liberate the enslaved men outside the pyramid to even the odds against overwhelming numbers. Bamora frees a prisoner whose panic blows their cover and ignites the battle, escalating into the clash of Sumerians against the Kur.

Badly wounded, Banga is left where she falls while Aja hauls Bamora onward, and both Tome and Aja are seized by the enemy. Before Big Mama can swallow Bamora, Banga, now piloting a giant exosuit shaped like the God of Sumer, lands a saving blow on the creature.
