Summary

The Hayashi's musical barrier shields the float from the towering animated structure, but Seiko warns Momo that the real threat is the Kinjiro Ninomiya statues hoisting the building. Small enough to squeeze through the gaps in the barrier, the statues hurl exploding lumber at the group. Momo is soon swamped trying to fend them off and proposes destroying the moving building, only for Seiko to refuse, since the structure is essential to laying the Onbusuman to rest.

A ground-level blast then sends flying debris into the Hayashi's vocalist, knocking him out cold and crippling the performance. Undeterred, Seiko orders the musicians to keep playing and tells Rin to sing in his place. Rin protests that she has been unable to sing since Mai died and feels herself growing sick. The crisis deepens: without a singer Okarun struggles to pull the float, Momo must channel her powers just to keep the wheels attached, and the haulers stall completely, giving the living building the opening it needs to reach for the float.
