Appearance

Mubi's gear hides almost everything but his left eye, which peers out past a wrapped sash and a rebreather, while a protector shrouds the whole of his head; his black hair is cut low and neat beneath it. For combat he wears a yellow one-piece seamed straight down the front, plus sandals. The anime restyles him in a kimono top and loose pants, with wrappings at the legs and waist, slippers, and glasses whose right lens is blocked out.

Personality

A patient, orderly thinker, Mubi maps his moves out before he makes them. He shares his squad's appetite for a good scrap, relishing it most when the matchup is lopsided and victory looks like a sure thing.

History

A well-rounded ninja, Mubi does his best work with trickery. The Mist Servant Technique lets him flood a fight with copies of himself, and the Sly Mind Affect Technique throws targets off balance, both tactics aimed at tiring a foe before the real blow lands. His earth nature carries him underground and back to the surface without churning the ground above, and the anime hands him a crossbow, a blade, and clones spun from water.

In the Chunin Exams' second stage, his squad smothered Kabuto Yakushi, Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke Uchiha in stacked illusions to drain their hours and their energy. When the Rain team finally moved in, they learned that the Leaf shinobi in front of them were transformed shadow clones, the real ones having rested up, and Mubi's group was thrashed and knocked out of the round.

The anime adds the Land of Tea assignment, where Aoi Rokusho directs the trio in propping up the Wagarashi family at the Todoroki shrine race. Mubi and Kagari rigged a boat for combat at sea and sent Idate Morino's craft under, then carried the duel below the waves against Team 7. Naruto's Rasengan practice churned up a whirlpool that hauled them into a trench for yet another defeat, though their masks are thought to have saved them.
