Transparent World

The Transparent World is a supernatural visual ability available only to Demon Slayers who have awakened the Demon Slayer Mark, first appearing in Chapter 152 with a cameo as early as Episode 55. When active, it changes how the user sees, making living creatures appear clear so that only the inner workings of their bodies remain visible. The user can track the circulation of blood, the rhythm of breathing, the tightening of muscles, and the bending of joints in whatever they look at.

This insight lets a fighter peer into an opponent's body to forecast and slip past incoming strikes while spotting gaps to exploit. Remarkably, even a blind user can access it, as Gyomei Himejima did when he formed a sharp mental picture of Kokushibo and perceived his organs. Beyond anatomy, the ability stretches the user's perception of fast events, so that motions too quick to follow seem to slow down, while reflexes, speed, and predictive power all surge.

How a person reaches the Transparent World varies with the circumstances of their awakening, so the exact trigger is not fully understood, though one constant is that the user must lock their focus onto a target. Tanjuro Kamado's account of the process begins with memorizing techniques until they feel natural, then opening all five senses to become aware of the body down to each vessel. From there the user discards wasteful motion, concentrates only on what a given movement requires, and learns to govern breath and muscle so precisely that vessels can be opened and shut as easily as a blink. The mind clears, an illuminated path appears, and by straining to the very edge of one's strength the Transparent World opens.

This let the frail Tanjuro perform a sacred dance ritual from dusk to dawn and cut down a charging bear in an instant. Tanjiro accessed it for just a fraction of a second to evade an otherwise unavoidable blow from Akaza, his body moving faster than ever before. A person who fully enters the Transparent World can also attain the Selfless State, and the two combined allow precise, lethal strikes.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni was born with the Mark and used the ability from childhood, later reading Muzan Kibutsuji's strange anatomy to devise an attack aimed at all his vital organs at once. His twin Kokushibo awakened it differently yet wields it continuously, using it to identify Muichiro as his descendant and to anticipate enemies in the Infinity Castle arc. Tanjuro and Tanjiro Kamado both learned it, Tanjiro turning to it against Akaza and again against Muzan. Gyomei Himejima awakened it while blind to counter Kokushibo, and Muichiro Tokito and Obanai Iguro each reached it briefly in desperate moments of battle.
