Appearance

This demon has an enormous, heavily muscled body that dwarfs ordinary people and rivals the Father of the Spider Family in size. Its defining feature is the absence of a head, with a ragged wound at the neck suggesting the head was torn away to keep the creature alive.

Its forearms take the shape of bladed, spider-like legs that stretch far beyond normal reach. The skin is a dull purple crossed with bulging veins, and its only clothing is a pair of tattered beige trousers with the left leg ripped open, held by a loosely knotted belt.

History

The Headless Demon was among the many demons dwelling on Mount Natagumo. Mother kept it in reserve as her final defense should any danger draw near her hiding place. How it was created, what became of its head, and whether it ever possessed a mind of its own are all left unknown.

Abilities

Mother considered the Headless Demon her fastest and most powerful puppet, saving it as her last means of stopping the slayers. In place of hands it has spider legs that work as blades, useful both for deflecting attacks and for striking down enemies once Mother's webs have pinned them. Tanjiro also remarks on how durable it is.

Like all demons it moves far faster than a human. During the clash on Mount Natagumo, Inosuke is cut so quickly that several wounds appear at once even though the demon seems to attack only a single time. Tanjiro and Inosuke ultimately defeat it by severing its arms and legs before slicing it apart, an act that also ends Mother's life, as told in Chapter 31 and Episode 16.
