Chapter 11 of Kimetsu no Yaiba names the architect of Tanjiro's tragedy: Muzan Kibutsuji. As the Swamp Demon's clones overwhelm him, the truth about the kidnapped girls lands hard, and Nezuko bursts from her box to fight at her brother's side.
Ahead of his first assignment, Sakonji warns Tanjiro that only a single demon can turn a person into one of its kind. That being is the original demon, born more than a thousand years ago, the one that slaughtered the Kamado family and possibly the only creature capable of undoing such a curse. Its name is Muzan Kibutsuji.
Tanjiro tries to strike all three demons at once but cannot reach their vital points, and their shared scent leads him to conclude they are duplicates of one being. Even while shielding two people, he keeps in mind his orders to question them about Muzan. When a clone lunges at Kazumi, Tanjiro counters with Water Breathing, Second Form: Water Wheel, yet the wound falls short and the demon slips away. The demon snarls at him to stop interfering, complaining that the sixteen-year-old girl will taste worse now, while a second clone declares itself already full from countless victims. The last clone reveals a robe lined with hairpins, taunting that any girl whose pin is among them has been eaten. Recognizing Satoko's ribbon, Kazumi breaks down, and Tanjiro burns with anger at the scale of the loss, reliving his own family's destruction and Nezuko's transformation.
The clones press their assault, and one nearly catches Tanjiro before Nezuko erupts from her box and kicks it away. The demon wonders aloud why one of its own travels with a slayer. Walking to Kazumi and the surviving girl, Nezuko sees her younger siblings Takeo and Hanako in them. Tanjiro recalls that Sakonji had planted a command in her sleep, urging her to regard all people as family, to guard humanity, and never to pardon demons. Nezuko fixes a furious glare on the Swamp Demon and readies for battle.
The story reveals that a lone demon, the first ever, Muzan Kibutsuji, can convert humans into demons.
The Swamp Demon admits it has already consumed every one of the missing girls.
Nezuko enters the fight, beginning the battle of Tanjiro and Nezuko against the Swamp Demon.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned $778 million globally and nearly 40 billion yen in Japan, but it still couldn't top Mugen Train's domestic record. Here's why that barely matters....
