Training and Tension

Over a meal with Tanjiro and Inosuke, Genya reflects that Gyomei is a good man who took him on as an apprentice despite his lack of talent. Tanjiro then heads to Giyu's training and, on the way, finds a strangely subdued Zenitsu atop his boulder, who says only that he has found clarity and must face something alone. Reaching Giyu's yard, Tanjiro is stunned to watch Sanemi and Giyu spar with wooden swords at blinding speed, trading forms until their blades shatter.

The Ohagi Attempt

When Sanemi proposes continuing bare-handed, Tanjiro rushes in and stands between them. He offers Sanemi ohagi, having caught the scent of the sweet at his home, and earnestly asks whether he prefers it coarse or fine, earning a punch to the face from the irritated Wind Hashira, who storms off. Giyu, now aware of Sanemi's favorite food, reasons he could keep ohagi on hand to befriend him, an idea Tanjiro finds pleasant.

Walking alone, Sanemi grabs something rustling in the bushes and finds a crushed demon eye marked with a kanji, leaving him confused. Meanwhile, outside the Ubuyashiki estate, a visitor enters to meet Kagaya. Though his eyes are bandaged, Kagaya greets him by name as Muzan Kibutsuji, remarking that this is their first meeting.
