Inosuke recognizes Doma as Upper Rank Two and vows to defeat him and become a Hashira. Seeing Kanao injured, he jokes that Shinobu will scold her, but her silence and distress fall heavy on him. Doma remarks that Shinobu now lives on inside him, his way of claiming that everyone he devours is saved.

Recalling a pinky promise Shinobu once made him, Inosuke charges in rage, using Beast Breathing's Fourth Fang, Slice 'n' Dice. Doma notes his chipped blades and unconventional style as he weaves between attacks.

A hit across the eyes

Inosuke deflects Doma's fan with his feet, returns Kanao's stolen blade to her, and kicks the demon away. When Doma assumes a strike is out of range, Inosuke uses the Ninth Fang, Extending Bendy Slash, dislocating his arm joints to reach farther and cut across Doma's eyes.

An unsettling recognition

Frustrated that the imprecise technique missed Doma's neck, Inosuke relocates his bones. Doma, amused at an opponent unlike any in his long life, steals the boar mask without either slayer noticing and remarks that he has seen Inosuke's face somewhere before.

The chapter confirms to Inosuke that Doma killed Shinobu, sharpening his resolve in the Kanao and Inosuke versus Doma battle. Doma's closing claim that he recognizes Inosuke's face plants the seed for the next chapter's revelation about Inosuke's mother.
