Chapter 196 of Demon Slayer marks Nezuko's return to humanity through a flood of memories, while Muzan discovers two more stages to Tamayo's poison: he can no longer split his body, and the final stage will dissolve his cells.
As Nezuko nears the city, her thoughts spiral back to her family's final night, when Muzan invaded their home and injected each of them with his blood in a failed bid to create a demon immune to sunlight. Recalling his coldness and Tanjiro's grief, she is then carried through warm memories of Giyu, Urokodaki, Tamayo, Yushiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, the Hashira, the Butterfly Mansion girls, the swordsmiths, and many others who shaped her journey. Imagining Tanjiro reaching out to her, she takes his hand in her mind and recalls his promise to save her, then fully reclaims her human body and declares her name.
On the battlefield, Muzan senses that the gravely wounded Hashira are still alive and being treated to fight again. He likens the Corps to the beads of a rosary and to a dragon coiling around him. When his attempt to split his body fails, he concludes that Tamayo's drug also blocks division, but her spirit corrects him.
The chapter continues the second stage of the war against Muzan. Nezuko regains her humanity after reliving the loss of her family and the bonds she formed afterward.
With thirty-five minutes left until dawn, Muzan uncovers two further effects of Tamayo's poison. He can no longer split himself apart as he once did to escape Yoriichi, and once the first three stages have weakened him enough, the final stage begins destroying his cells. Tamayo's spirit reveals the drug had four parts in total, taunting him with the death he has always dreaded.
During Nezuko's memories she pictures Shinobu showing her a goldfish, a fascination tied to Zenitsu, who once brought the goldfish bowl to her without permission during their Rehabilitation Training and was scolded by Aoi afterward.
The chapter ends with Muzan beginning to cough blood as the poison's final stage takes hold. It is part of the Sunrise Countdown Arc.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned $778 million globally and nearly 40 billion yen in Japan, but it still couldn't top Mugen Train's domestic record. Here's why that barely matters....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
