Mamoru Miyano

In "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," produced by the studio Ufotable, Miyano provides the Japanese voice of Doma, one of the formidable Upper Rank demons who oppose the Demon Slayer Corps. The casting reflects Miyano's long-standing facility with charismatic, complex antagonists, a register he has returned to repeatedly across his career. Within an enormously popular franchise, the role stands among the more memorable villain performances of his recent work.

Active since 1990, Miyano is best known for his voice acting in a long list of major anime, including "Death Note," "Inazuma Eleven," "Steins;Gate," "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," "Durarara!!," "Soul Eater," "Wolf's Rain," "Ouran High School Host Club," "Oshi No Ko," "Ajin: Demi-Human," "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," "Free!," "Hunter x Hunter," "Chihayafuru," "Bungo Stray Dogs," "Persona 5," "Zombieland Saga," "Fire Force," and "Pluto." His portrayal of Light Yagami in "Death Note" is among his signature performances.

Miyano was nominated for the Best Lead Actor Award at the 1st Seiyu Awards in 2007 for voicing Light Yagami in "Death Note." At the 2nd Seiyu Awards in 2008 he won the award for his work as Setsuna F. Seiei in "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" and Hakugen Rikuson in "Kōtetsu Sangokushi," and that same year he took the Best Voice Actor prize at the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair. He is also an established singer: his debut single "Kuon," meaning Eternity, appeared under King Records in 2007, followed by his debut album "Break" in March 2009.
