Chōji's Mother

Orange accents mark the outer corner of each eye, paired with a soft touch of lipstick and small red studs in her ears. She carries a fuller figure and keeps her black hair cropped short. Her outfit follows Akimichi tradition: a high-collared purple blouse of Chinese cut, trimmed in gold and stamped across the back with the clan's kanji for food, worn above trousers and raised sandals.

Shikamaru describes her as good-natured, the kind of parent who happily lets her son eat his fill. Her tenderness runs deep. After Asuma is killed, she dotes on the grieving Shikamaru and nearly weeps for him. Yet gentleness is only one side of her, and she can turn fierce and unyielding when her family or home is threatened.

She first steps into the story when Shikamaru visits the Akimichi home, and soon after she consoles him in his sorrow over Asuma. Her boldest moment comes during the great shinobi war. With most fighters gone from Konoha, Ebisu assembles the remaining women and children, and when a band of Sumo Wrestlers storms the village she helps beat them back. Notably she trades blows with her bare fists, the lone mother to fight without a frying pan or other cookware, before Konohamaru ends the clash with a Rasengan. In the film Road to Ninja she and Chōza turn up to celebrate their son and pledge a letter recommending him for jōnin.
