Chōza Akimichi

Standing broad and heavyset, Chōza cuts an imposing figure on any battlefield. His clan's signature purple swirls mark each cheek, and though his true hair grows out brown, he tops it with a tall, spiky crimson piece. His wardrobe leans toward a warrior's kit: dark clothing layered under plated armour stamped with the character for food, cinched by a corded sash and finished with guarded hands. In place of a metal headband he binds a cloth hachimaki across his brow. For years he wore a pair of silver hoop earrings, which he later handed down to Chōji; once his son earned them back as a chūnin, Chōza set them aside for good.

Whenever he calls on the Multi-Size Technique to swell his frame, a fresh pair of lines surfaces beneath his eyes, then fades away the moment he shrinks back to normal.

Warmth defines Chōza. Comrades and neighbours know him as a kind, thoughtful man whose calm carries a lifetime of insight, and nothing in the world matters to him more than his boy. That devotion never curdles into blind indulgence, though: when Chōji put his allies at risk during the Fourth Shinobi World War, his father sharply reminded him that a cowardly attitude ill suited the clan's next leader. Like every Akimichi, he also carries a bottomless hunger, cheerfully ordering his way straight down a restaurant's entire menu.

Chōza came up through the ninja ranks alongside Shikaku Nara and Inoichi Yamanaka, and the three of them carried the Ino-Shika-Cho banner a full generation before their sons did. Anime accounts add that he later guided his own rookie squad, which counted Ebisu, Genma Shiranui, and a young Might Guy, and that near the close of the Third Shinobi World War his team ferried a peace proposal toward Iwagakure. As a parent, he steadied Chōji through the cruelty of other children, promising the boy that a real friend would one day recognise his gentle nature, and he walked him to the clans' shared memorial to explain the bond linking the three families and the leadership awaiting him.

His combat style rests on the Akimichi gift for converting stored calories into chakra to enlarge the body. He commands the Multi-Size Technique with ease, holding the giant form for long stretches without visible strain, and pairs the Human Bullet Tank with his son in their Double Human Bullet Tank. During Pain's invasion the two flattened the Asura Path on arrival, then trapped the Deva Path with a coordinated charge so Kakashi could strike; the assault left Chōza gravely wounded, and only a fragment of Katsuyu confirmed to Tsunade that he still drew breath.

When the Fourth Shinobi World War erupted, he joined the First Division at the Land of Lightning's border and faced a reincarnated Dan Katō and Asuma Sarutobi. He caught Kinkaku's lashing tail with sheer strength, threw himself in front of Asuma's fiery Ash Pile Burning to shield his son, and rallied Chōji to embrace his role as heir. Later he raised the Super Multi-Size Technique against the summoned Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. While guarding a barrier, he and Dan spoke at length, and Chōza urged the freed spirit to hurry to Tsunade before his borrowed time expired. He mourned the fallen at Konoha's mass funeral, and in the New Era he petitioned the Seventh Hokage for a dedicated day set aside to dote on his granddaughter Chōchō.
