Ubau

Ubau wears his dull purple hair combed back over brown eyes. He first appears disguised as a meek farmer in a plain kimono shirt cinched with an orange sash, white trousers, sandals, and a cloth tied around his head. He later drops the act for a high-collared haori lined in purple with a gold band at his brow, bandages about his arms and waist, and dark trousers.

Ubau is a schemer, shown when he passed himself off as an innocent farmer and handed Naruto produce laced with a deadly mushroom. Pulling the plan off beneath the eyes of several of Konoha's top ninja also marked him as decidedly clever.

As Naruto and his companions travel toward the Land of Lightning, they halt at a small port town to restock on food and water. There Ubau, playing a merchant, slips a Moulding Mushroom into the group's rations, whose properties ruin their food and leave them facing death by starvation or by eating the poisonous mushrooms. The plan unravels when Shima sends an unexpected supply of insect-based meals through Gamatatsu by way of the Reverse Summoning Technique. Their strength restored, Naruto's party overcame Ubau and his gang and shipped them off with a single Moulding Mushroom for provisions, deaf to their cries for mercy. His name, written one way, means to snatch away or to steal.
