Yota

Small and thin with tan skin and a permanent blush, Yota had spiky brown hair falling to his waist, short bangs shading his eyes, and chin-length strands along each side of his face. His pupilless eyes were green, a sharp canine jutted from the right of his mouth, and his grin showed pronounced teeth. He wore a dull green robe under a brown cloak, wooden geta, a purple headband, and bandages around his head and wrists. Once the Impure World Reincarnation took hold, his sclerae turned grey.

For all his frailty, Yota wielded his clan's inherited power to bend the weather, and he did so with control his own people ranked above all of theirs, which is exactly why Orochimaru and later Kabuto chose him as a test subject and war weapon. Whatever the surrounding conditions, he could summon fierce winds, rain, and lightning, raise water trenches to block or pin foes, fire condensed bubbles as strikes, and steer bolts of lightning, and his rain could even siphon a target's chakra. His powers answered directly to his feelings, so sadness would break into a downpour. By whistling he produced strong gusts that sharpened into cutting blades and twisters. Beyond the weather he could erase memories, link and contact minds much like the Mind Body Transmission Technique, and while underwater push enemies back or hasten his own movement. He was nimble too, slipping around a young Choji's attack.

Yota was born to a travelling clan who earned a living manipulating the weather, and his own body was so fragile that he died young of natural causes five years before the series begins, only for Orochimaru to reincarnate him for research. Sent to Konohagakure, he met Choji Akimichi, Shikamaru Nara, and Ino Yamanaka when a thrown kunai pinned him to a tree and his tears brought down a rain that toppled it. A naive, fun-loving child who sang about the weather and nicknamed people by their most obvious trait, he was also deeply sensitive and quick to cry. The children hid him from the adults, sheltering him in a treehouse and feeding him, and he grew fond of Kiba, Akamaru, and especially Sakura, even befriending Naruto and asking to be taught how to whistle. When a misread moment during hide and seek sent him fleeing, Anbu captured him for interrogation, and his friends schemed to break him out. Crossing a fierce river afterward, Naruto, Shikamaru, and Choji were swept away and saved by Yota, who then failed to surface. Found near death, he wiped his friends' memories of him and, unwilling to endanger them again, left Konoha to live out his days alone before falling under Kabuto's control. During the Fourth Shinobi World War he is deployed among the reanimated, with three White Zetsu clones taking his shape to strike his old friends, an act that stirs the Konoha ninja's buried memories. Naruto finds the real Yota and, once the child has telepathically shared his origins and farewell, Yota turns his own power against himself, dying content that he had found friends after all.
