Boruto and Kagura

Convinced Boruto could never grasp his past, Kagura attacks, only to slice through a shadow clone. With Shizuma egging him on to draw more of Hiramekarei's power, Kagura presses the fight, yet Boruto reads the doubt in his opponent's face and lands a hit after feinting with clones and his jacket. Boruto argues that Chojuro would never have entrusted the blade to someone Shizuma paints as a monster. Shizuma counters with claims that Chojuro secretly murders his rivals, until Mitsuki appears bearing a scroll from Suigetsu that shows the real culprits confessing.

Unmoved by the evidence, Shizuma admits he craves the return of the Bloody Mist no matter the cost, and when pressed he confesses he wants war simply because he finds it funny. Using his own blood and Samehada, he floods the surrounding fog with red and the blade begins siphoning chakra from every wound it opens.

Boruto and Mitsuki hammer Shizuma but Samehada devours Mitsuki's Wind Release, tearing free of its bandages. Mitsuki's throat strike lands only on a water clone, and the real Shizuma pins him with water spikes before the exhausted boy escapes a killing blow. Distracting Samehada with a clone, Mitsuki lets Boruto propel himself forward on wind chakra to disarm Shizuma. Kagura finally intervenes, blocking Shizuma's water sword and begging him to stop, but Shizuma reconnects with Samehada and starts mutating into a shark-like creature.

Chojuro arrives after evacuating the others and explains that the blade has claimed Shizuma because of his inexperience. Rather than let Chojuro finish it, Kagura asks to wield Hiramekarei himself, and when his chakra is drained Boruto joins him by taking the sword's other half. Together they pry Shizuma loose from Samehada and end the fight. Iwabee then turns up with Tsurushi carrying Sarada, warning that the Konoha students will miss roll call, and the group heads off as the red mist fades.
