The Turbulent Field Trip!!

A public address by Ikkyū Madoka, the Land of Fire's daimyō, touches on friction involving the Land of Waves, and Iruka and Anko catch it on the news while grumbling about how fortunate Konoha remains by comparison. Naruto, visiting the Academy, shares fresh news of his own: talks with the Land of Water have opened the door for student excursions there. Boruto barges in mid-conversation with a botched attempt at a Wind Release technique, then tries to dodge accountability, and the two Uzumaki wind up bickering. Shino later relays the plan to his students, who buzz with anticipation.

When Shino calls for someone to lead the group, Sarada nominates Boruto, who happens to be strung up, bound, and gagged as punishment for an earlier stunt. His classmates back the choice, and the gag leaves him no way to object. Talk turns to Kirigakure's grim reputation as the old Bloody Mist, a subject that weighs on Iwabee. Hinata sends her son off with a packed bag, and Shino and Anko lead the class by rail and by sea. Boruto and Sarada squabble along the way, Iwabee stays downcast, and one evening Boruto quizzes Mitsuki about his shaky Wind Release. The Hidden Mist finally comes into view.

Reaching the village at dawn, the students marvel at how modern it appears. Kagura Karatachi, an assistant to the Mizukage, welcomes the group as their escort, drawing admiration from several of the girls. He and Boruto hit it off over their mutual fondness for the actor Kagemasa. Iwabee stays glum and doubtful about how far Kirigakure has really changed. A chance collision between Boruto and a local named Hassaku sparks a near-brawl, defused when Shizuma steps in, impressed that the Konoha kids refuse to back down. As the two locals depart, a heavy fog rolls across the village.

Naruto finalizes an arrangement with the Land of Water that permits the Academy field trip. Sarada gets Boruto installed as class representative while he is tied up and unable to refuse. The class travels to Kirigakure and meets their guide, Kagura Karatachi. Boruto and Kagura bond over their shared love of Kagemasa, while a scuffle with Hassaku is broken up by Shizuma, foreshadowing trouble ahead.

The installment opens the School Trip Arc within the Boruto anime and introduces Kagura, Shizuma, and Hassaku. It airs under the opening theme Baton Road and the closing theme Sayonara Moon Town. Iwabee's unease frames Kirigakure's violent history as the Bloody Mist, and the closing wall of fog sets the stage for the conflict to come.
