Boruto and Sarada

Naruto confirms to Shikamaru that everything is ready for the coming summit as the village buzzes with anticipation. Among the students, Sarada wows her classmates with her shuriken skill and states her goal of one day holding the Hokage's seat. Boruto, thrown by the change in someone who recently mocked shinobi life, needles her, and when Mitsuki jokes that the two would make a fine couple both are left flustered. Chocho nearly blurts out that Sarada has awakened the Sharingan, but Sarada cuts her off.

Sarada tells Chocho that her mother warned her about the eye, and she wants to master it before letting anyone see it. During training she reveals she has copied Boruto's Shadow Clone Technique, only to collapse from the drain on her chakra. Konohamaru catches her, and once she recovers he walks her through the Sharingan's basics.

Learning of Sarada's ambition, Konohamaru names her a rival and explains that Boruto acts out because he longs to be seen as more than Naruto's son. In a closed session, Naruto briefs the other Kage on other dimensions, on Kaguya having grown White Zetsu ahead of the war, and on a great enemy still to come. The leaders worry the next generation lacks the strength to meet it, but Gaara argues that such fears are nothing new and that the young will rise to surpass their elders.

Having come to understand Boruto, Sarada decides to push him past his childishness, and the two spar until her skill impresses him enough to call it off. Boruto still defaces the Hokage Rock during the summit, drawing an exasperated Naruto's attention once Moegi reports it. The episode loosely adapts chapter 700, reworking most of its events, and pulls the summit's talk of a looming threat from the material later collected as chapter 700+5.
