Team 15

Guided by Hanabi Hyuga, this Leaf Village unit begins with Sumire Kakei, Wasabi Izuno, and Namida Suzumeno. In the anime, Sumire steps away to join the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team, and Tsubaki Kurogane takes her place. That swap makes the group notable as the first officially recognised team to count a samurai among its shinobi.

During the Chunin Exams the three clear the opening phase but are knocked out in the second when Team Yurui takes their flag. Once Tsubaki arrives, the squad's results briefly slump, largely because she, Wasabi, and Namida struggle to coordinate. The rough patch fades after Tsubaki accepts that she cannot carry every job on her own strength. When Wasabi later reaches chunin, she is named captain and the roster settles at three.

Their casework is varied. They help the wider hunt for the Byakuya Gang, round up animals loose from Fire Park, and steer antique merchants safely past the Garakuta Gang. A search for a lost cat drags on until Mirai Sarutobi stumbles across it while leaving the village. Partnering with Konohamaru's team, they look into the strange birds of the Land of Rivers, and during Kawaki's genin trial they detain a fleeing boy without hurting him. In one closing job they corner a rogue samurai named Sazanka, a former classmate of Tsubaki's, whom she defeats after regaining her nerve.

Hanabi Hyuga oversees the cell, with Wasabi Izuno eventually inheriting command. Sumire Kakei brings scholarly composure before departing, Namida Suzumeno wields a powerful sound-based technique, and Tsubaki Kurogane adds sword discipline as the team's samurai recruit.
