Summary

Riding a peddler's wagon through the Bande Woods almost thirty years after Himmel's death, Frieren notices an unfamiliar bracelet circling Fern's wrist and remarks that its mirrored-lotus pattern matches a ring the hero once gave her. She begins rummaging through her disorganized luggage for the keepsake, only for a massive birdlike beast to seize the entire cart and haul it into the sky.

With flight magic too unreliable to set the wagon down safely, the elf simply springs free, blasts the monster apart, and lets gravity finish the job. The cart slams to earth, yet everyone, the horse included, walks away unharmed, and Sein mends the animal with the Goddess's healing. Amid the cleanup, Frieren realizes the ring has gone missing.

Key Events

While the group camps to repair the wagon, Sein draws on his floriography knowledge and tells Stark that the bracelet's blossom signifies undying love, a confession the young warrior swears he never intended. An embarrassed Fern refuses his offer to swap the gift, insisting he keep the one he agonized over choosing. Meanwhile Frieren slips away each night to hunt for her lost ring.

On their final evening, Fern learns what her mentor has been searching for and rallies everyone to help. The merchant hands Frieren a scroll holding a spell that pinpoints misplaced trinkets, and from the air she spots the keepsake glinting among the trees. Recovering it, she recalls Himmel kneeling to slide the ring onto her finger long ago, and feels glad she never gave up the search.

Notes

A flashback underlines that Stark's late master Eisen could plummet from any height and emerge without a scratch, a feat even Heiter found absurd. The bird monster's knack for masking its mana is what let it ambush the party undetected.

Himmel had shown a repeated fascination with flowers and their coded meanings, hinting that he grasped the significance of the mirrored-lotus ring when he bought it. The blossom's message of eternal love therefore likely applied to both his ring and Stark's unwitting gift.
