Appearance

Chizuru is a teenager of ordinary height and build who blends his parents' looks, wearing his father's facial features with the hair and eye coloring of his uncle Yuki. His dark-grey hair is short, fluffy, and lightly spiked, with long unruly bangs around his face and a cowlick standing up on top. Light grey eyes and a near-permanent scowl round out a generally irritated look.

Personality

Quick to anger, Chizuru snaps at people freely and can be aggressive, brash, and coarse, apt to act on impulse and never shy about telling someone off. He shrugs off his sister's theatrics with weary detachment, though he is not above a little teasing himself. He describes himself as strikingly ordinary next to his family and nothing like either parent, and he tires of customers marveling at how normal he is compared to his flamboyant father, quietly feeling like the odd one out. Michi Manabe chalks the rudeness up to a rebellious phase.

Underneath it, however, he is grounded, responsible, and mature; Sawa notes his good manners and his knack for looking after others, sensing warmth in even his blunt remarks, and once he cools down he readily apologizes for going too far.

History

As the youngest and only son of Mine and Ayame, Chizuru grew up among the other Sohmas and their children, forming especially tight bonds with Shiki and Rio. His story in Another opens with him minding his father's boutique, groaning that he would rather be anywhere else. When Sawa arrives to start a part-time job there, arranged through Mutsuki, he answers the door in a fury over the racket Sora had been making and snaps at her before Riku smacks him quiet.

Realizing his mistake, he introduces himself and explains he is running the shop solo while his parents vacation and his sister has abruptly flown to Paris. He warms to Sawa over their shifts, apologizing for lumping her in with the crowd that only sees him as Ayame's dull son. Later, at the Go club he shares with Shiki and Rio, he mentions Sawa might join the group's villa trip, and the news rattles Shiki so badly that he drops a bucket of pieces, leaving Chizuru grinning knowingly.
