Round-framed glasses rest over big grey eyes, and she keeps her black hair in a pair of braided pigtails against fair skin and a slim figure. A pretty woman of average height, she first turns up in a short-sleeved French maid outfit and cheerfully admits she swaps costumes to match whatever mood strikes her.

Warm and irrepressibly upbeat, Mine is one of the few people able to keep pace with Ayame's theatrics, going along with his flamboyance no matter how over the top it gets. She understands how badly he wants to repair his bond with Yuki Sohma, and she quietly whisks Tohru Honda aside to give the estranged brothers room to talk, a small act that shows how deeply she cares for him. Her signature quirk is an irresistible urge to dress up every cute girl she encounters, and she happily bends her designs to any request, as when she agrees without hesitation to sew Saki Hanajima an all-black gown.

Mine is introduced when Yuki and Tohru drop by the costume shop and she mistakes them for ordinary customers, only to warm up instantly and offer to dress Tohru, using the fitting as cover to leave the brothers alone. She resurfaces alongside Ayame at the school's Cinderella-ish festival play, startling Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo before measuring Saki for that black lead costume. When Ayame's curse finally breaks, he pulls her into an embrace and declares he was born to love her and her alone, moving her to tears. Their bond is treated as one of the most wholesome in the Sohma family, untroubled by Akito because Ayame is the one relative Akito cannot stand. In Fruits Basket Another, Ayame takes a grieving Mine away on a trip after her father dies and lifts her spirits, while their son Chizuru minds the shop in the absence of his sister Hibika and reassures his mother by phone that all is well.
