Another: Bonus Manga

The chapter unfolds during New Year's Eve inside the Sohma estate, where Hajime and Mutsuki sit together and reflect on the lives their fathers lived before them. Their conversation circles the old family curse and the way its shadow still touches the generation that came after. As the bonus installment that ends the opening volume of Fruits Basket Another, it works as a quiet character piece rather than a plot-driven entry.

Having only learned of the Zodiac curse from his own parents that very day, Hajime asks whether Mutsuki already knew. Mutsuki admits he was told roughly two years earlier, which leaves Hajime a little deflated at being the last to hear it. Hajime then describes his disbelief at the news, and how scattered memories finally clicked into place: his father's uneasy smile whenever relatives noted their growing resemblance, and a warning from Ren that he might turn into a monster.

Both boys express gratitude that their parents chose honesty. Mutsuki remarks on how meaningful it must be for their fathers, once bitter rivals, to watch their sons stand side by side as close friends. The scene drifts into a memory of the two as small children at play, with the outlines of Tohru, Yuki, Kyo, and Machi keeping watch nearby. Sora Sohma and another boy call them over as the new year nears, and on the way Mutsuki floats the idea of the two living together someday, which Hajime lightly turns down. Talk also lands on whether Hajime will enroll at Kaibara Municipal High School, drawn there by curiosity about where his parents grew into who they became.

A small detail hints that Hajime is being raised in the countryside, a point the second volume later makes explicit, while Mutsuki shares a city home with his parents.
