History
Gamelan commands a group within the Third Sovereign Battalion stationed in Central City, and he appears only in the 2009 series. In Episode 56 his team is summoned to reinforce Führer King Bradley, and Gamelan presses forward to wrest back the main gate of Central Command from the Fort Briggs soldiers holding it. The push fails at once, as the freshly arrived Fu knocks Gamelan and his whole platoon out cold. The manga hands this same role to a recurring character named Storch, which makes Gamelan a substitution invented just for the anime. His name may be drawn from Maurice Gamelin, who led the French army in the opening stretch of the Second World War.
