Tengen Toppa Solvernia is Nia Teppelin's giant, the first to rise after the Granzeboma tears apart Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Slender and blue-white where the others are broad, it fights with a flower-tipped staff that blooms into a drill.
Nia Teppelin's Tengen Toppa Gunmen forms during the last battle of the second movie, The Lights in the Sky are Stars, and is later spent alongside the rest of the giants to raise Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Unlike the rest of the fleet, this giant grows from no earlier machine, since Nia had never before taken the controls of anything. Its look instead borrows from Gurren Lagann and the Lazengann but slims the proportions and shifts to a blue-and-white palette. Its yellow eyes hold red cross-shaped pupils that echo Nia's own, and a plume of pale blue Spiral Power streams from the back of its head in the shape of her hair. It is the first to appear once the Granzeboma breaks Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Its weapon is a spiraling staff crowned with a flower that opens into a drill, and it moves with enough speed to slip past nearly every attack thrown at it.
The machine first guards the piece that will become Tengen Toppa Lagann, keeping the enemy from drilling through it before striking on its own. It drives its staff into the Granzeboma's chest, only to meet drills erupting from the beast's mouth that shear off an arm and leave it stranded. Viral's Tengen Toppa Enki Durga comes to its rescue, and it later folds its fire into the team's combined stand before all the giants merge into their final form.
Nia Teppelin is the only pilot. Fittingly, the name Solvernia is drawn from the Japanese phrase for being by someone's side, a nod to her bond with Simon.
