Allen Under Attack

Allen Under Attack marks a small but meaningful moment in the series, the point where Allen the Alien's power begins to surge after a savage beating from three Viltrumite soldiers. The assault follows a Coalition mole leaking word to the Empire that Nolan has a son on Earth and has abandoned his mission. The clash sets the stage for the coming Battle of Thraxa between the Grayson family and Viltrum.

Returning to Talescria, Allen reports to the Coalition council, including Thaedus, that Mark is Nolan's son. The council assumes Mark has seized Earth on their behalf and dismisses Allen's warning that no Viltrumite should be trusted, though Thaedus sides with him. Afterward, Thaedus shares that Aikreon was struck down swiftly and cut off its Coalition communications, leading him to suspect the Empire has planted a spy inside the alliance, and he asks Allen to stay watchful.

Later, Allen shares a dinner date with Telia at the Galactic Grill. Just as he is about to warn her about the mole, Thula, Lucan, and Vidor seize him and drag him into deep space for interrogation. Pressed for Nolan's whereabouts, Allen answers only with jokes and insults, refusing to give anything up. The Viltrumites beat him mercilessly, tearing off an arm, gouging out an eye socket, and leaving his intestines exposed before dumping his ruined body among the stars as a horrified Telia looks on.

The Coalition recovers Allen and stabilizes him, though he stays unconscious while Telia keeps anxious watch. Thaedus assures her the Viltrumites underestimated an Unopan's will to live, and she realizes the alliance has nearly uncovered a secret the Empire is desperate to hide. Once she leaves, Thaedus quietly lowers Allen's life support and voices his regret. Allen soon wakes on his own, bursting out of the recovery chamber, larger and taller than before. Thaedus congratulates him, explaining the ordeal has left him strong enough to face a Viltrumite. When Allen insists his war is over, Thaedus reveals that he is the legendary Great Betrayer of Viltrum, then asks Allen to bring Invincible to Talescria to tip the balance of the conflict.
