Iaian

Clad in sleeveless armor cut like a medieval knight's and worn over a black long-sleeved shirt, Iaian is a young man with close-cropped blonde hair and blue eyes. A lone pad shields his left shoulder, a matching iron helm topped the look when he first appeared, and his blade rides at his left hip. His duel with Melzargard would later cost him his left arm.

A hot temper runs close to the surface. The sight of A-City in ruins strikes him as unforgivable and sends him straight onto the attack, and an ambushing alien earns an instant counterstrike rather than a moment's hesitation. He is headstrong and more than a little cocky, willing to take on Garou alone chiefly to make his master proud, a recklessness that partly explains why Atomic Samurai keeps stepping in to cut his fights short. Beneath the bravado, though, he is stubbornly persistent, refusing to back down against any opponent, and sharply analytical, sizing up a foe's strengths and every ability while warning teammates Bushidrill and Okamaitachi to stay on guard. That perceptiveness carries off the battlefield too; he caught the bloodlust in Sweet Mask after the idol slaughtered surrendering enemies, doubled back to prevent a second massacre, and coolly suggested digging into the star's background rather than starting a shouting match.

Ranked at the very top of A-Class, Iaian is a formidable fighter, and Fubuki reckons he and his fellow disciples would hold S-Class rank were it not for Sweet Mask's gatekeeping. Even after losing an arm he keeps his Rank 2 standing and, by his master's account, trains to grow deadlier with one arm than he ever was with two. His speed and reflexes border on the superhuman: he slipped a surprise blow from Melzargard and struck back at once, sliced multiple bullets from the air before shearing apart Tongara's rail gun, cut off Sweet Mask mid-strike to spare Narinki's Private Squad, and, alongside Bushidrill and Okamaitachi, hacked through more than a hundred thousand hairs flung by Devil Long Hair while fighting with his eyes shut.

He hits hard as well, halting Rhino Wrestler's charge by striking the monster's horn, a blow it scored 69 out of 100, and even shattering one of Tatsumaki's psychic barriers from the inside. His pain tolerance runs high, shown when he registered only shock rather than agony at losing his forearm, and his senses are keen enough to detect killing intent and strike without opening his eyes. All of it feeds his craft as an expert swordsman. His signature Iai of Certain Kill draws, cuts a vital point, and resheathes in under a second, the fastest blade among Atomic Samurai's three students. He fights with a black-hilted katana and wears armor forged by a celebrated smith, and his very name fuses the martial art iai with the iron of that armor.
