Chapter 113: Terrible Luck

Iaian, Okamaitachi, Bushidrill, and Narinki's Private Squad try slipping past a knot of monsters, but a demand for a password they cannot give triggers a fight from both sides. One monster gets away and uses its power to unlock a vault, which the heroes and mercenaries then trace to the same spot, prompting Bushidrill and Tongara to weigh what such a chamber might hold.

Within, they come upon Evil Natural Water and the Mad Doctor Fish. Master Joe explains the nature of the sealed water and why it is confined to a tank. Tongara pumps rounds into the fleeing monster's back, yet it still yanks a lever and frees the water. As the group battles the creature, Master Joe is eaten alive by the fish. The disciples and mercenaries fall back and strain to seal the vault door, but Evil Natural Water slips out first and looses two high-pressure jets. The men evade, though the sheer force still bores a hole clean through Iaian's blade. The Mad Doctor Fish then swarm and overwhelm them.

Taking cover, Tongara lines up a shot at the water's eyes. Sensing the danger, Evil Natural Water fires a searing jet that punches through his chest. When Bushidrill moves to help, more jets follow, and Tongara shoves him clear, absorbing the full blast and taking mortal wounds. Iaian and Okamaitachi drag him to safety while Bushidrill blocks the monster's path. In his final moments Tongara trades names with the swordsmen before the disciples flee, calling him a fool for staying, and the Mad Doctor Fish devour him as Evil Natural Water bursts through the wall.

The scene cuts to Saitama standing over slain monsters as Overgrown Rover reappears. His offer of a bone is answered with a barrage of energy blasts that wreck the area. Saitama dodges and lands a punch strong enough to rattle the entire underground base, an impact felt by monsters and heroes alike and registering as a quake on the surface, though the surface team never grasps its cause. With Rover downed in one strike, Nyan creeps up and tries Super Feline Retribution to no effect, then flees in fright.

Finally, Gyoro Gyoro sits on its throne mulling over the battle when Tatsumaki materializes beside it, asking whether the loss of its cadres troubles it and whether it is the leader. The adviser greets her as an opponent it must handle in person, names itself the Monster Association's military strategist, and coldly tells the esper to die, hurling and pinning her under enormous boulders with its psychic force.

The disciples and mercenaries breach a vault holding Evil Natural Water and the Mad Doctor Fish, and Master Joe is killed. Tongara sacrifices himself to save Bushidrill and dies to the fish and the freed water. Saitama defeats Overgrown Rover with one punch, sending tremors up to the surface, and shrugs off Nyan's attack. Gyoro Gyoro reveals itself as the Association's military adviser and traps Tatsumaki under boulders.

The one hundred thirteenth chapter, titled Terrible Luck (Daikyō) and given as Great Misfortune by Viz, appears in Volume 24 and adapts into Episode 36, drawing partly on webcomic Chapter 62. Its cover features Tatsumaki. After a redraw the title was briefly changed to Right Here (Koko ni ari), but when the chapter was gathered into Volume 24 the name reverted to Terrible Luck.
