Summary

Heading home from a grocery run, Hori hums along to a song drifting from a shop display, not noticing that Miyamura catches her. His compliment leaves her embarrassed, and when he asks about her taste in music she draws a blank, realizing the only lyrics she knows belong to the anime her brother Souta loves. Back at the house she is greeted by her returning mother.

Chatting with her mother, Hori is struck by the fact that she has never learned Miyamura's first name despite the time they have spent together. Deciding a direct question would be mortifying, she resorts to roundabout tactics at school, from spying toward the boys' changing area to scanning the posted exam rankings. It is only after Miyamura happens to meet her mother outside that he pieces together the reason for her odd behavior and simply tells her his name.

Meanwhile, Hori keeps getting saddled with Student Council tasks even though she holds no seat on it, prompting her friends to suspect she is being taken advantage of. When council member Remi Ayasaki knocks Miyamura over, he spots the budget report she has dropped and forgotten. The next day, council president Kakeru Sengoku berates Hori in public over that missing report, so Miyamura headbutts him and produces the paperwork Ayasaki left behind. The council offers an apology, and it comes out that Sengoku had been leaning on Hori using knowledge that she once bullied him in childhood. By the following day, the memory of that headbutt has left Sengoku wary of Miyamura.

Key Events

Hori is caught singing by Miyamura and cannot name her own musical preferences. Her embarrassment over not knowing his given name drives a string of indirect schemes until he tells her himself after meeting her mother. At school, Miyamura clears Hori of blame for a lost budget report by headbutting Sengoku and revealing that Ayasaki dropped it, which uncovers the leverage Sengoku held over Hori from their shared past. As the class moves toward its third year, Miyamura hands Hori a CD as a birthday gift while she pictures what her days would look like without him.
