Shuu
CharacterShuu is an anime-only ghoul of the 11th ward who belonged to Kazuichi Banjou's circle. Held prisoner alongside his lover Haru, he tried to comfort a tortured Kaneki before both he and Haru were killed on Yamori's cruel whim.

Shuu is dressed in the standard garb associated with Aogiri Tree's rank and file.
Personality
What little the anime shows of him points to a compassionate, frightened man. He and Haru risked tending to a broken Kaneki and carried a message of hope on Banjou's behalf, yet both trembled openly when dragged before Yamori, unable to shield themselves from his sadism.
History
After Yamori stepped away from one of his torture sessions, Haru and Shuu came in to clean Kaneki and the space around him, passing along Banjou's promise that a rescue would eventually come. Not long after, the pair were brought in front of Kaneki, and Yamori demanded he pick which of the two should die so the other might live. When Kaneki could not choose, he was forced to watch Yamori strangle Haru to death in front of Shuu, who was murdered shortly afterward. In adapting the story, the anime used Shuu and Haru in place of the characters Kei and Kouto.
