Gary
CharacterGary is an ordinary Chicago father whose debt to a crime boss briefly marks him for death, only for a far larger disaster to catch him instead. He survives the killer sent to collect, then dies with his daughter at his side when a citywide superhuman brawl tears downtown apart.

Gary carries the worn look of a working man past his easiest years. His hairline has retreated far enough to lend him a stressed, somewhat older appearance, and his complexion sits in a pale, unremarkable range. The plain clothes he favors read like the wardrobe of a junior office worker or small-time businessman.

Very little of him is shown beyond life at home, but there he comes across as a warm and attentive parent who clearly cares for his daughter.

History
Gary fell into debt with Machine Head, who sent Titan to collect by force. When the assassin realized Gary had a family depending on him, he backed off and handed the man two days to clear the balance, which Gary may well have managed to do.
He surfaces again downtown with his daughter, the two sharing a quiet moment as they line up for hot dogs. Before he can buy any, he is swept up in the catastrophe caused when Invincible slams into the city during the Destruction of Chicago. A building comes down around him, and his body is later seen amid the wreckage while his daughter stands frozen, staring at her father.
