Jack Duvall is the infant son of Scott Duvall, the man who reinvents himself as the vigilante Powerplex. An innocent bystander to his father's obsessive vendetta against Invincible, the toddler is drawn into a scheme that ends in tragedy for his whole family.
Barely past infancy, Jack takes clearly after his father, sharing the same short blonde hair and much of his face, while his eyes come down from his mother's side. He is usually seen bundled in a pale blue onesie.
As a child of his age, Jack behaves exactly as one would expect. He is happiest with his toys or in his mother's arms, but he startles easily and turns fussy, often bursting into tears whenever the adults around him let their anger boil over.
Jack was born to Scott and Becky Duvall after their marriage, still too young to travel when his father visited Chicago just before the catastrophic clash between Omni-Man and Invincible. As Scott spiraled into his revenge campaign, Becky backed him rather than pulling away, a choice that placed their son squarely in danger. Reinventing himself as Powerplex with energy-storage tech stolen from the G.D.A., Scott had Becky implant the devices in his body; one test discharge jolted Jack awake in his crib. When the plan to lure out Invincible stalled, Becky refused to flee with the boy, and the couple instead staged a phony hostage situation inside the very building where Scott had lost his sister and niece. Invincible arrived without realizing who the captives were. In the chaos of the fight, Powerplex seized the hero and loosed an uncontrolled burst of energy meant to kill him. Invincible endured it; Becky and Jack did not, both incinerated in the blast. The sight of their bodies shattered Scott, who once again laid the blame on Invincible.
