Ka-Hor

Red light burns from deep within a shrunken, hollow face, marking Ka-Hor as something long dead. His withered frame is bound in bandages that give off a green glow, and those wrappings stretch outward like grasping tendrils rather than sitting flat against him. Royal Egyptian garb completes the look: a short gold-trimmed kilt, armored plating at the chest, wrists, and waist, and a towering headdress that signals the high rank he claims to have held.

Arrogance defines him. Ka-Hor behaves as though command and worship are his birthright, a mindset that survived his own death and keeps him anchored to an era that no longer exists. Chief among his fixed ideas is contempt for women, whom he judges unfit to serve his ambitions, which repeatedly puts him at odds with a modern world that ignores such rules. Challenges leave him baffled or irritated rather than reflective.

For all his posturing, his confidence is brittle. He insists he is in control, yet the instant a scheme slips he turns desperate and frightened, especially with no host or followers to prop him up, exposing a far weaker figure beneath the bluster. He talks down to anyone who questions him, though there is something faintly pathetic about a once mighty ruler now cursed, trapped, and forgotten. When endless failure finally wears him down, he abandons his prejudice and seizes Riley regardless of her being female, then settles into her body more comfortably than he expected.

Whatever Ka-Hor was in life has been lost, though his regal trappings hint at a ruler. After death his body went into a tomb while his spirit lingered, bound by a curse that barred him from leaving unless he claimed a living male host, and a small cult kept his memory alive. A worshiper named Bryant later dug up the tomb and roused him, only to be possessed and then buried again when a sandstorm stirred up by Invincible resealed the chamber.

A year on, two women broke in: Bryant's daughter Jane and a minor superhuman called Riley. Ka-Hor balked at their gender and declared he needed a man, drawing an accusation of sexism from Jane, before another passing sandstorm from Invincible trapped all three. During the Invincible War, Nogogglesible crashed into the tomb mid-fight with the Immortal; Ka-Hor lunged to possess him but the alien tore free, leaving the mummy to panic and retreat inside as Riley hauled a barely living Jane out, branding him a misogynistic jerk on her way.

His final chance came when Riley summoned Invincible through Invincible Inc. as an intended host, only for Damien Darkblood to drag Invincible down to Hell and spoil the plan. Worn out and short on options, Ka-Hor at last took Riley as his host and walked free of the tomb, adapting to her body with surprising ease before realizing a vast desert still lay between him and anywhere else.
