Joi Irinaka relocates his body and his mind into a solid object, then wears it like a second skin. An average refrigerator marks his usual size ceiling, but Trigger blows that limit apart, letting him seize an entire location and reshape it around the people trapped inside.
Mimicry, rendered as Mimic in the English dub, is a close-range Emitter Quirk used by Joi Irinaka. It debuts in Chapter 132 and reaches the anime in Episode 68.
The owner relocates his physical form and his consciousness into a solid object, then moves and reshapes it as freely as he would his own limbs.
Size normally caps out at roughly an average refrigerator. A boost, presumably from the drug Trigger, let Joi work a whole location at once. Occupying an object also costs him awareness. He cannot take in his surroundings properly from inside, so he has to push a body part out through the surface to watch events or handle anything with precision, and that exposed piece hands enemies something to attack.
Joi Irinaka is the only known holder. Day to day he lives inside a small black cloak, using it to travel and to deal with others, extending individual limbs whenever the situation calls for it.
Under Trigger he took hold of the ground beneath the Shie Hassaikai base and stalled Sir Nighteye's raid team, twisting corridors, throwing up walls, dropping people into sealed rooms, and launching attacks the whole time. Buried in the concrete, he sat beyond the reach of Shota Aizawa's Erasure. Himiko Toga and Jin Bubaigawara eventually worked his temper against him, goading him into a reckless gamble that exposed his position and cost him the fight.
The power resembles Shihai Kuroiro's Black in broad strokes, with clear differences. Black only works on objects of a particular color but carries no size restriction, while Mimicry is the reverse. Shihai also needed to develop his Quirk before he could move what he possessed, and even then he remains limited to mobile objects, whereas Joi could reshape a host however he liked.
Mimicry, called Mimic in the English dub, is a close range Emitter Quirk used by Joi Irinaka that relocates his body and mind into a solid object, which he can then move and reshape as freely as his own limbs.
Mimic is the English dub name for Joi Irinaka's Mimicry Quirk, a villain affiliated with the Shie Hassaikai.
Mimicry normally caps out at roughly the size of an average refrigerator, though a boost, presumably from the drug Trigger, once let Joi Irinaka take hold of an entire location.
Under Trigger, Joi Irinaka used Mimicry to seize the ground beneath the Shie Hassaikai base, twisting corridors and dropping people into sealed rooms to stall Sir Nighteye's raid team, all while staying buried beyond the reach of Shota Aizawa's Erasure.
Mimicry and Black are similar but differ in scope. Black only works on objects of a particular color but has no size restriction, while Mimicry is the reverse, working on any solid object but capped by size.
