With her friends dead, Sailor Moon enters the Dark Kingdom for a final reckoning with Queen Beryl and the brainwashed Prince Endymion. Love restores Mamoru's memory before Metalia and Beryl merge into Super Beryl, forcing Usagi to spend the Silver Crystal's full power and reset the world.
The season closes with Sailor Moon alone at the enemy's threshold, teleported by Queen Beryl into her throne room to confront the corrupted Endymion. What follows is a brutal test of Usagi's devotion, as the man she loves tortures her on Beryl's command while she refuses to strike back. Only the orgel's melody finally breaks Metalia's grip on Mamoru, setting up a last stand against a monstrous fusion of Beryl and Metalia that Usagi can end only by unleashing the Silver Crystal in full.
Beryl parades the brainwashed Endymion, who binds Sailor Moon in electrified black-rose vines and blasts her with energy. Desperate, Usagi holds out the orgel and pleads with him to remember; his touch floods him with memory and frees him. Furious at losing him again, Beryl flings a stone pillar, and Mamoru shatters it with a rose while shielding Usagi from the fragments, a wound that proves fatal. His love cracks Beryl apart until she melts through the floor and begs Metalia for more power. The two merge into the towering Super Beryl.
Refusing to abandon Mamoru's memory, Sailor Moon steels herself and, as Princess Serenity, meets Super Beryl's darkness with Moon Healing Escalation. When her barrier weakens, the spirits of the four guardians lend their power, and the Silver Crystal annihilates both foes for good. Its expanding light swallows the North Pole, and Usagi's longing for an ordinary life is granted. The miracle rewinds everyone's lives to before the series began, erasing all memory of the guardians and of one another. Morning finds Usagi oversleeping and racing to school, passing Makoto, Rei, and Minako as strangers, while Ami again tops the exam scores and a thrown test paper reunites Usagi with Mamoru by chance. Luna and Artemis note sadly that no one recalls the past, yet trust the friends will find each other once more.
This finale and the previous episode were heavily condensed into a single DiC installment titled "Day of Destiny," which cut or shortened many scenes, including the guardians' deaths and much of the Beryl fight. Keiko Han received her sole on-screen credit for Queen Beryl here, having been billed only as Luna until now. Beryl, Metalia, and the orgel each make their final appearance, and Super Beryl appears only in this outing. It also holds the last use of Moon Healing Escalation and the final physical appearance of the Moon Stick, which the Silver Crystal's blast engulfs. The manga diverges sharply: there Beryl dies by Sailor Venus's Legendary Sword and no one loses their memories.
Mamoru breaks free when Usagi holds out the orgel and pleads with him to remember; its melody floods him with memory and restores his love for her.
Mamoru shatters Beryl's thrown stone pillar with a rose to protect Usagi, but the fragments deal him a wound that proves fatal.
Super Beryl is the towering fusion of Queen Beryl and Queen Metalia, destroyed when Sailor Moon, as Princess Serenity, draws on the spirits of the four guardians to power a full-strength Moon Healing Escalation from the Silver Crystal.
The Silver Crystal's miracle rewinds everyone's lives to before the series began, erasing all memory of the Sailor Guardians and one another, though Usagi and Mamoru are reunited by chance the next morning.
In the manga, Queen Beryl dies by Sailor Venus's Legendary Sword rather than fusing into Super Beryl, and no one loses their memories afterward.
