The Guardians open their true war against Queen Metalia at the frozen D Point, and Sailor Venus strikes down Queen Beryl with the Legendary Sword. Faced with a possessed Endymion who guards the final fragment of the Silver Crystal, Sailor Moon makes a devastating choice.
The Sailor Guardians launch their real offensive against Queen Metalia and the Dark Kingdom at D Point, the enemy stronghold buried at the North Pole.
Beryl reveals that Tuxedo Mask had already perished and now lives only as Metalia's puppet, then binds Sailor Moon with her hair while boasting of the Silver Crystal's boundless power. Recalling how Beryl once turned Earth against the Moon and caused the deaths of Endymion and Serenity, Sailor Venus calls forth the Legendary Sword and runs the queen through, killing her. As the crystal begins to react, an inscription glows along the blade, foretelling that the future queen's hidden crystal will awaken to the wishes of her heart and bring peace back to the kingdom.
Venus collapses after reading the words, and Endymion drags her and the sword through a portal that the Guardians trace to D Point. There a possessed Endymion strangles Sailor Moon, demanding the true crystal since the one he stole carries no power. Luna explains that a fragment of the Silver Crystal lives inside Endymion, and only the whole stone can seal Metalia away. Realizing she must slay Endymion to reclaim that last shard, an anguished Sailor Moon takes up the Legendary Sword, cuts him across the chest, kisses him, and then turns the blade on herself.
This twelfth chapter of the Dark Kingdom arc was written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi and appears only in the Shinsouban edition of the manga. Before Sailor Venus strikes Beryl down, Mercury shifts the battlefield away from the control room to keep the coming clash from destroying it.
