Act 38 Infinity 12 Infinite - Journey

Standing as the final entry of the Infinity arc, this installment has Sailor Saturn use her Silence Glaive to wipe out the Death Busters entirely. The Outer guardians resolve to look after Hotaru once she returns as a reborn newborn, the spirit of Sailor Saturn resting quietly inside her. Some weeks on, Chibiusa readies herself to return to Crystal Tokyo just as Usagi and her friends start their high school years.

The guardians and Tuxedo Mask watch the world edge toward collapse until a burst of light on the surface reveals Super Sailor Moon. Sailor Saturn hurls Pharaoh 90 back into the Tau System, and at her request Sailor Pluto seals the gateway between the systems with Saturn left on the far side. Drawing on her power as Neo-Queen Serenity, Sailor Moon restores everyone in Tokyo to life. A shaft of light among the rubble leads the Outers to a baby Hotaru, and the three of them agree to raise her together as a little sister. Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna depart, promising to come back one day.

Weeks later, Usagi and the others have become high schoolers, and Chibiusa plans her trip back to the future on the very day a solar eclipse is due. She and Usagi stroll with Mamoru while Rei, Makoto, Ami, and Minako head off separately, and everyone stops to watch the sky darken. As the new moon fully covers the sun, Usagi and Chibiusa turn toward a sound behind them and find a white Pegasus crowned with a golden horn, who begs the two of them for help.

Naoko Takeuchi wrote and drew the chapter, whose title also renders as Setting Off. The installment ends the Infinity storyline and launches the Dream storyline, with Chibiusa's letter placing the eclipse and the Dead Moon Circus's arrival at roughly the first of April. In the manga's original run, two side stories followed this chapter: The Lover of Princess Kaguya, later adapted into a feature film for the third season of the 1990s anime, and Casablanca Memories, which explores Rei and her estranged father.
