Cruise Adventure Arc

The Cruise Adventure Arc is the tenth story arc of SPY x FAMILY, covering chapters 43 through 57 plus Short Missions 6 and 16 (volumes 7 through 9). The anime adapts it in season 2, from the B part of episode 29 through episode 35, under the title Luxury Cruise Ship Arc (Japanese: 豪華客船編, Gōka Kyakusen-hen). It follows the Imperial Scholars Mixer Arc and leads into Loid's Past Arc.

This is the series' first extended showcase for Yor's assassin life, formally introducing the organization Garden and its enigmatic Shopkeeper while forcing her to weigh her lethal profession against the family she has come to love.

After a comic prologue in which Yor helps Franky chase down a runaway cat for a girl he fancies, the Thorn Princess is summoned through her city hall director, Matthew McMahon, who turns out to be a fellow Garden operative. The Shopkeeper tests her reflexes with a surprise attack, then assigns the job: guard Olka Gretcher and her infant son Gram, the only survivors of a purge that wiped out the Gretcher crime family, as they flee the country by sea. The new boss, Leonardo Hapoon, has priced their heads so high that killers from across the region are converging.

By coincidence, Anya snatches the rigged grand prize at a mall raffle: cruise tickets aboard the very ship Yor will be working, the Princess Lorelei. Sylvia signs off on Loid taking the trip, framing it as part of Anya's care under Operation Strix, so the whole family boards, split between Yor's mission and the father-daughter vacation.

On the ship, Olka travels disguised as "Shaty Grey" with the loyal Zeb posing as her husband, but an informant bugs her cabin and sells her identity to the assembled assassins. The first night brings an attack Yor kills her way out of, an escape through a masquerade ball, and a duel with the chain-wielding Barnaby, during which Anya, having read the situation telepathically, keeps Loid busy dressing up in a souvenir shop and convinces onlookers the fight is circus entertainment. Yor notices herself hesitating mid-combat and later realizes why: she is afraid of exposing her secret and losing the Forgers.

The climax unfolds during the fireworks show. Escorting Olka's group toward a rendezvous point, Yor is ambushed on the upper deck; Matthew is cut down by a swordsman, and Yor, battered and cornered, remembers the reason she took up killing in the first place, protecting her brother Yuri's carefree life, and resolves that shielding people from tragedy is still worth bloodying her hands. Anya finds Yor's dropped stiletto below and hurls it up to the deck, letting her mother end the fight. Meanwhile Loid discovers bombs hidden aboard, planted by the informant Snoops to look like Westalis's work and reignite the war. Disguised as crew, Loid defuses all but one, which he pitches into the sea; the blast capsizes Snoops's escape raft and leaves him and the assassins' leader treading shark-infested water. Olka and Gram slip away safely, and Olka thanks Yor with a blessing for the family she protects in secret.

The final day gives the Forgers a full reunion at the resort island, where Yor quietly decides she can carry both lives. Two interludes round out the arc: Yuri's immune system collapses the moment his sister leaves town, and Matthew heads back to Maureen, his wife, refusing retirement as long as Garden wants him.

The arc cements Yor's choice to continue as the Thorn Princess, now motivated by her new family as much as by Yuri. Garden and the Shopkeeper move from rumor to concrete fixtures of the setting, and Matthew McMahon is revealed as Yor's handler inside city hall.

On the espionage side, the SSS buries the bombing incident, but Sylvia connects the missing fake-passport passengers to extremist agitation and orders Loid to watch for movements that could threaten Operation Strix. Back at school, Anya embellishes her vacation stories to compete with wealthier classmates, gets ridiculed, and receives earnest lectures about honesty from three adults whose entire lives are lies.
