Ayato taunts his sister with news that Kaneki is likely dead, igniting a brawl that spills onto the rooftop. Elsewhere the broken Yamori meets his end at Suzuya's hands, and the advancing CCG stumbles upon the dreaded One-Eyed Owl.
Ayato Kirishima blocks Touka Kirishima on the stairwell and asks whether she has come for the boy with the eyepatch. When she confirms it, he reveals that Kaneki is with a torture-obsessed ghoul named Yamori and insists the boy is already dead. The taunt sends Touka into a fury, and the siblings clash. Ayato blasts her through a door with his kagune shards and out onto the roof, ordering his subordinates to finish Nishiki Nishio before he follows.
Yamori, still sprawled and gravely wounded, whimpers for his mother when Juuzou Suzuya happens upon him. Their brief exchange ends with Yamori lashing out, and Suzuya seizes the opening to stab and ruin his face. Once done, he hauls the body off toward Yukinori Shinohara.
The Commission of Counter Ghoul continues its advance, having secured the first and second buildings and nearing the end of the third. As the investigators chase down the remaining ghouls, they come face to face with the One-Eyed Owl.
Ayato reveals Kaneki's captivity and provokes Touka into a rooftop duel, gaining the upper hand. Suzuya finds the crippled Yamori, kills him, and drags his corpse to Shinohara. The CCG clears buildings one and two, then encounters the One-Eyed Owl while sweeping the third.
The chapter, titled Encounter (邂逅, Kaikō), closes Volume 7 and ends Yamori's arc. Kaneki and Nishiki are referenced during the sibling confrontation without appearing in it directly.
