Persistence is the seventy-fourth chapter of Tokyo Ghoul, set in the eighth volume. It stresses the One-Eyed Owl's near-invincibility as CCG morale collapses, while Kaneki's brawl with Ayato turns toward a psychological standoff.
Barely staggered, the One-Eyed Owl shrugs off the combined assault from Iwao Kuroiwa and Yukinori Shinohara, and the sight drains the surrounding investigators of hope. Voices in the ranks call the creature's strength bottomless and fear the fight is already lost. Take Hirako observes that even top-grade quinques barely dent it. As the Special Class officers keep swinging and gunfire proves useless, Shinohara and Iwao begin weighing whether to unleash one of the Arata armor's hazardous functions.
Nearby, the Anteiku fighters hold their own against Aogiri's ghouls. Shuu Tsukiyama needles Uta for keeping his kagune sheathed, and Uta answers that plenty of allies are already engaged. Renji Yomo, meanwhile, picks up on a menacing presence drawing closer.
Seated close to Touka Kirishima, Nishiki Nishio frets over whether Kaneki has survived. In truth, Ayato Kirishima has pinned him down. Kaneki lies still as the wounds from the kagune fragments knit shut, and when Ayato steps toward him, Kaneki asks the boy to share his secret.
Called Persistence (不屈, Fukutsu), the seventy-fourth chapter belongs to volume eight. It underscores the Owl's resilience and the CCG's mounting desperation, while quietly steering Kaneki's confrontation with Ayato toward interrogation rather than pure combat. Demon Yamada and Wobbegong are only referenced.
Chapter 74 shows the One-Eyed Owl overwhelming Iwao Kuroiwa and Yukinori Shinohara while Ayato Kirishima pins down an injured Kaneki, who asks Ayato to reveal his secret.
Chapter 74 of Tokyo Ghoul is titled Persistence, Fukutsu in Japanese (不屈), reflecting the One-Eyed Owl's near-unstoppable resilience.
Because gunfire and repeated strikes barely faze the One-Eyed Owl, Shinohara and Iwao Kuroiwa begin weighing whether to trigger one of the Arata armor's hazardous functions.
After his wounds close and Ayato steps toward him, Kaneki asks Ayato to share his secret rather than continuing the fight.
Shuu Tsukiyama and Uta hold off Aogiri's ghouls alongside Renji Yomo, who senses a menacing presence drawing closer.
