Mei Mei

A young woman with soft peach skin, Mei Mei has slim brows and small, sharp eyes that read dark brown in the manga and dark purple in the anime. Her long silver hair, tinted blue, is usually worked into two braids, one veiling part of her face and the other trailing past her shoulders behind her, a style she favors on the job. When she unwinds or plays a casual game of ping pong, she lets it loose or ties it into a single braid.

For sorcerer work she wears a dark bodysuit with an attached skirt, the legs covered by matching pants tucked into same-colored boots, rendered purple with light brown boots in the anime. Her 2006 attire was a tie and business suit, the hair gathered high into a ponytail, two matching bangs framing a fully visible face.

Composed and unflappable, Mei Mei holds her nerve no matter the circumstances, and while she is genuinely kind and candid, she makes no secret of her greed. Money is her measuring stick, perhaps the only thing she truly prizes, and she has said outright that she stays loyal to cash and will not so much as rise from bed without pay. Whose side she takes or what politics swirl around a job mean nothing to her so long as the fee is there, and she claims not to grasp any bond that money does not underpin.

To her, the worth of another life scales with how useful that person is, a notion of service potential she applies even where it should never reach. She told a beaten curse user that she killed him because he took lives without understanding their value, and seeing none in Niji Ebina, she ended him without pause. Even so she keeps a generally warm front, takes interest in her allies' growth, and readily praised the idea that Maki was overdue for promotion from grade 4. Beyond profit, her deepest attachment is to her younger brother Ui Ui, a bond unsettlingly close, and when the New Shadow Style head endangered his future she treated it as a personal affront and killed to shield him.

Holding grade 1 rank, Mei Mei draws broad respect as a more than able combatant; Gojo, who rarely says so, has called her strong, and her peers at Jujutsu High found it strange enough that one of her missions dragged on to assume something had gone wrong. Believing her innate technique weak because it only governed birds, she trained herself into a formidable close-quarters fighter, which let her crush Niji Ebina, a curse user reckoned near semi-grade 1.

When Kenjaku's disease curse, the Smallpox Deity, trapped her in a domain that could kill within three seconds, she admitted she could barely recall the last time her life had been at stake, a sign of how long she had gone unhurt. With Ui Ui's aid she outmaneuvered and exorcised the special grade anyway, a feat that even drew Kenjaku's grudging respect.

In battle she defaults to her battle-axe, swinging to split foes in two with startling speed and precision for a weapon that size, a single blow enough to behead a curse user or sever a special grade's arms. Her innate Black Bird Manipulation lets her charge crows with cursed energy, command many at once over great distance, and share their sight for scouting, while its true edge, Bird Strike, binds a crow into a suicidal dive of devastating force that has exorcised special grades, survived only by the likes of Gojo, Kenjaku, and Sukuna. A sharp tactician with deep experience, she reads a domain's rules and weaknesses quickly and has reinforced her body with cursed energy to her physical limit.
