Summary

Pushed into overtime, Nanami grasps that the curse he is fighting deliberately bound his own strength to a clock so that he would grow more dangerous once that limit lapses. Rather than grind the spirit down, the sorcerer chooses a single decisive blow, shattering a wall with his expanded Ratio Technique before severing one of Mahito's legs and declaring a retreat as falling debris buries his foe. Suguru Geto, who is in truth Kenjaku wearing the man's body, surveys the wreckage and is impressed.

Aboveground near a riverside stairwell, Yuji passes the time with Junpei Yoshino. The teen spots the uniform's distinctive swirl and deduces that his new acquaintance practices jujutsu. Yuji asks directly about the cinema massacre, but Junpei brushes it off, insisting his ability to perceive curses only surfaced lately. Trusting him, Yuji settles in to chat about films until Junpei's mother Nagi arrives and welcomes the visitor to dinner.

The meal goes warmly. Ijichi eventually fetches Yuji, and before parting Junpei asks what his friend would do if pressed to take a life. Yuji answers that he would refuse, since killing would only blur how much a life is worth. That night, Nagi discovers a Sukuna finger at her table, and the curse it summons kills her. Devastated, Junpei is fed lies by Mahito, who aims his fury at Shota Ito, an old tormentor. Wearing his mother's dark clothing, Junpei returns to Satozakura, knocks out the student body, and corners Shota for revenge, only for Yuji to burst in shouting just before the killing blow.

Notes

The episode draws from Chapter 23 onward through Chapter 25. New faces include Nagi Yoshino and Shota Ito. The anime has Nanami slice off Mahito's leg rather than break it, and stages Mahito's emergence from the rubble after Kenjaku appears instead of before. It is noted as the first installment to wrap up exactly where a collected volume had, matching the close of the third volume.
