The forty-sixth episode and twenty-second of season two pivots from Mahito's fall to the mastermind behind it. The figure wearing Geto's body absorbs Mahito and reveals himself as an ancient sorcerer, while Choso, sensing a blood tie to Yuji, turns his fury on the curse user.
Pseudo-Geto offers to save the defeated Mahito, prompting Yuji to charge in demanding Gojo's return. The curse user demonstrates the versatility of cursed spirit manipulation, conjuring a catfish curse that makes Yuji feel he is falling and a swarm of centipedes that trap him. When Mahito tries to transfigure Pseudo-Geto from behind, he is effortlessly dodged and absorbed into a black orb, which the curse user then swallows to claim the special grade's technique.
Pseudo-Geto explains the Maximum technique Uzumaki and its power to extract the abilities of stronger curses. Sorcerers from Kyoto and Tokyo converge to strike, but their assault is brushed aside. Choso then arrives and recognizes the man as Noritoshi Kamo, the ancient sorcerer who fathered the Death Paintings, declaring him to be the most evil sorcerer in history.
Brief vignettes show Panda freeing Kusakabe from rubble and Mei Mei advising contacts to dump Japanese assets ahead of an expected economic collapse. Choso, able to sense anomalies in his brothers across any distance, realizes Yuji is his blood-related sibling and unleashes Piercing Blood at Uraume and Pseudo-Geto. An extended duel sees Choso cut and raise stone pillars with his blood, only for the curse user to outmaneuver him with flying and reflective spirits. Uraume finally intervenes with Ice Formation, freezing the sorcerers, before Yuki Tsukumo arrives to turn the tide.
This episode draws from chapters 133 through 135. The fight between Choso and Pseudo-Geto is notably extended in the adaptation, with Choso showing advanced blood applications such as propelling himself through the air and raining controlled blood down on enemies. Pseudo-Geto likewise debuts several anime-original cursed spirits, including a gate-faced curse and a mirror-like spirit that absorbs and reflects attacks.
