Absorption and Release is the Quirk of the Four-Eyed Nomu, a power that swallows an incoming Emitter attack and throws it straight back at whoever fired it. Endeavor met it during the Hosu Incident and dismissed it quickly, since taking a blast in still means taking the damage.
The Four-Eyed Nomu carries Absorption and Release, rendered in Japanese as 吸収・放出 and romanized Kyūshū Hōshutsu. It is an Emitter Quirk of close-range classification, arriving in Chapter 55 of the manga and Episode 30 of the anime.
Counterattack is its whole purpose. Instead of blocking or evading, the wielder draws an enemy's Emitter-type assault into itself and sends that same energy back down the line at its source.
The power responds only to Emitter attacks. It takes them in and discharges them again toward whoever launched them, with nothing added or refined along the way, so what returns is essentially the opponent's own strike turned around.
Intake and protection, however, are separate matters. Pulling an attack in does nothing to cancel what that attack does to the body doing the pulling, meaning the user eats the harm along with the energy. Endeavor caught this at once during the fight at Hosu: his fire was coming back at him, yet the Nomu stood there visibly burned by it, and on that basis he judged the Quirk a weak one.
The Four-Eyed Nomu is the only known wielder. It put the ability to work against Endeavor in the Hosu Incident, taking in the flames of his Hellflame Quirk and hurling them back at the Pro Hero.
Similar powers turn up elsewhere in the series. Stock lets its user swallow an attack and let it loose again afterward, while Flect Turn and Tomura Shigaraki each hold a Reflect Quirk covering comparable ground, Tomura's being the closest match in function to this one.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Absorption and Release is the Quirk of the Four-Eyed Nomu in My Hero Academia. It absorbs an incoming Emitter-type attack and redirects that same energy back at whoever launched it.
The Four-Eyed Nomu is the only known user of Absorption and Release. It used the power against Endeavor during the Hosu Incident, absorbing his flames and throwing them back at him.
No. Absorbing an attack does not shield the user from the harm that attack causes, so the Four-Eyed Nomu still suffered visible burns from the fire it redirected at Endeavor. This is why Endeavor judged the Quirk to be a weak one.
Absorption and Release only responds to Emitter-type attacks. It takes in that energy and sends it back toward its source without adding or refining anything along the way.
Yes. Stock lets its user swallow an attack and release it later, while Flect Turn and Tomura Shigaraki's Reflect Quirk cover similar ground, with Tomura's version being the closest match in function to Absorption and Release.
