Lizard Tail Splitter

Lizard Tail Splitter is a long range Transformation Quirk held by Setsuna Tokage of Class 1-B. It debuts in Chapter 207 and in Episode 97. An early Funimation artbook rendered the name as Lizard Tail Cut, though that wording never made it into the series proper. The concept draws on autotomy, the real biological trick by which certain animals shed a body part to survive.

Setsuna can divide herself at any point she chooses, and the detached fragments hover free of the ground while obeying her will alone. Because the pieces tend to be small and travel quickly, an opponent trying to swat them individually has a miserable time of it.

Any organ riding along inside a fragment continues functioning on its own. A floating jaw still talks. A quarter of her face still sees, provided an eye came with it. That independence is what turns the Quirk from a defensive trick into a genuine tool.

The limits are twofold. A separated piece can only remain apart for so long before it simply quits working, and while she can grow replacements for what she loses, that regrowth has a ceiling of its own. Once she can no longer replace fragments she has to call the scattered pieces home, and an alert enemy can follow that convergence straight back to wherever she is standing.

Setsuna Tokage is the Quirk's only bearer. Her present ceiling sits at fifty separate parts, with the count depending on how long each piece is.

She applies the ability in two main directions. Detaching portions of her eyes gives her several vantage points at once, which suits reconnaissance, while flinging fragments at range covers her combat needs. Any single part carries little force on its own, but small, fast targets are difficult to guard against.
