Stress runs on misery. Rikiya Yotsubashi feeds anger, dread, and frustration into the Meta Ability and gets size, toughness, and destructive force back out, tracked across his skin in spreading black markings. Calm is the one thing that shuts it down.
Classified as a transformation-type Meta Ability with close-range application, Stress belongs to Rikiya Yotsubashi, better known as Re-Destro. It enters the manga in Chapter 218 and the anime in Episode 109. The premise is an emotional engine: negative feeling goes in, raw power comes out, raising strength, resilience, and physical size.
Severity scales with feeling. The worse the emotional load, the bigger and more durable the affected portions of his body become, and the resulting power announces itself through black markings that creep across whichever areas have been enhanced. The Quirk is functionally comparable to Body Bulk.
Enhancement is selective or total at the user's discretion. Any single limb can be boosted on its own, or the whole frame can be upgraded at once, and the disparity in output is enormous. One finger sufficed to wipe out a Double belonging to Twice, while a single swollen arm wiped out several League of Villains clones and threw off a massive shockwave with one swing.
Rikiya quantifies his own output. He dials a percentage of "Liberation" as a gauge for how far he pushes the enhancement, and at 80% he becomes a black, hulking monster whose sheer physicality left Tomura Shigaraki thoroughly outclassed.
The vulnerability is built into the concept. Because the ability needs unhealthy emotion to run properly, positive states such as peace and relief work against it, draining the stress it feeds on. A second limitation came later: once fitted with prosthetic legs, Rikiya found the artificial limbs unable to bear his amplified weight and power, capping what he could safely produce. Tsukuyomi's Ragnarök forced him back on exactly that weakness.
Re-Destro is the only holder, and his mastery has an unhappy origin. Carrying the weight of Meta Liberation's history and the obligation to build a liberated future supplied a permanent reservoir of tension, which the narrative blames for both his male pattern baldness and his habit of tipping into overwrought emotion.
His combat use is calibrated. Reinforcing his body with the black markings buys him speed and strength together while extra mass raises his overall toughness, and he meters the investment against the opponent in front of him, a fingertip for one of Twice's Doubles, his entire body for Tomura. The bulk answers Decay neatly: he pounds crumbling ground without concern, keeps pace with Tomura despite his size, and crushed three fingers on Tomura's right hand between one giant thumb and forefinger.
At the upper registers the power turns projectile. Running 80% Liberation, his monstrous form attacks with black stress energy, and a handful of that mass launched Tomura across the battlefield while tearing apart a sizable share of Deika City. His named techniques include 80% Liberation, which swells his bulk and sheathes him in darkness by spending his stockpile, Stress Output Burden, which concentrates that energy into a strike, and Stress: 100%, pushing mass and strength to their limit and letting him discharge broad waves of black energy from both hands together.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Stress is the Quirk of Rikiya Yotsubashi, known as Re-Destro, in My Hero Academia. It converts negative emotions like anger and dread into increased size, strength, and durability, marked by black patterns spreading across his skin.
Re-Destro can enhance a single limb or his entire body with Stress, with the boost scaling to how intense his negative emotion is. At 80 percent of what he calls Liberation, he becomes a hulking, black armored giant.
Stress needs negative emotion to function, so positive feelings like peace and relief drain its effects, and Re-Destro's prosthetic legs cannot safely bear the weight and power the Quirk generates at full strength.
Re-Destro's named techniques with Stress include 80% Liberation, which swells his size and covers him in black energy, Stress Output Burden, which concentrates that energy into a single strike, and Stress: 100%, his maximum output that unleashes broad waves of black energy.
The Quirk is named Stress because it is fueled directly by Re-Destro's negative emotions, a reservoir the story ties to the pressure of carrying on the Meta Liberation Army's legacy.
